Tyre pressures (Hoff will be here soon:?)

Post by Burky »

Finally checked the tyre pressures on the 10

27 front 27 rear

Felt a bit weird last Sunday and figured they wern't quite right  After speaking to the Master "Tim" figured that they maybe out of wack.

Didn't expect then to be that bad. Anyway now 36 front and 40 rear. Just have to wait for the rain to stop to see how it feels

You're missing 2 psi on the rear.

Thanks lord Hoff, now I feel better.

Benno the compressor and fittings i was using was taking so bloody long the book said 41 in the rear, 40 close enough. Got to be better that 27 ;)

I've always run much lower pressures like that, I hear mixed reports of what to run on the 12R.

Tyre pressures seem to be a bit subjective and having always ridden old bikes with shit tyres and suspension I find that I 'ride around' whatever the bike/suspension/tyre setup is like... after about 2 minutes you get used to whatever you're running. I've played with everything from 28 to 42 in both front & rear and the biggest difference I've noticed is from high pressures - less traction under hard braking and more wheelspin at the rear.

Any thoughts/comments would be great here.

Benno, its a well established fact that 42 psi in the rear is bloody dangerous, please don't ever come riding with me if you have 42 psi in the rear... look what happened to Marty...

I'd agree, haven't ridden a 10R for any extended period but if the 12 is anything to go by then I wouldn't be recommending 42psi either.

Yeah, I don't run pressures that high, I run 34/36, but I only use my bike for twisties. I should actually check the pressures in them before and during the ride to see how they are doing, hmmm.

I've been running 31/33 in mine & feels great through the twisties :D Dont want too much pressure or the tire might feel a bit too rock solid & make the suspension work overtime

Surely it could be no more dangerous than exceeding the speed limit? I hear you are likely to highside or spontaneously combust the moment the dial goes 1km/h past the mark!!

thats a good pressure for long trips at high speed.......pretty much anywhere out of town on a 12 !

around town / twisties, down to 36-38 rear is better.
