Progress pic of my wheels.........

Post by Phil »

i've so far spent a few hours on the paper and i think its progressing as well as can be expected.

with nearly 90K on the bike the rims have got some nice stone chips etc in them but i've got a few out.

i reckon another night or two on the 800 and i'll get into some 1200...

Are you trying to make the rim shiny? What is the plan with the center one as they are rough ...

from the time i started with a dirty rim would prolly be as follows

clean crap off = 1 hr
Tape and strip = 2 hrs
Clean up paint scraps and get ready for sanding = 4-5 hrs (this depends on how anal you wanna get............)
Sanding so far = 3 hrs

looking at it like that is scary....about 10 hrs total.........

coming along nicely Phil.
the blue looks really god, as mine are black they didnt contrast the polished bits very well as from some angles and in some lights the polished bits with the black reflecting off them make the shiny bits look black too.

Why does that black look so crap in the photos? They look great in the flesh, but rarely do you see a decent photo of one.

Oh, and it needs a wash.

nope, i have a mate (old army buddy) who owns a shop 5 mins away. they took the tyre off my rim and lent  me a tyre for a week or two as they were having trouble getting rear M1's from metzler as there were none in the country. didnt cost me a cent      .

the new, old tyre, if you know what i mean, went on the rear rim of a set my mate lent me for as long as i need. he's sold his zx9 now but still has 2 SETS, yes 2 sets of rims for it.

i'll finish the rear and then get the fronts swapped over.

yep rjberts rims look very nice, really sets the bike off, hopefully mine will have the same effect. gotta agree with spect-r about the contrast, the blue looks good against the shiny stuff
