Ive been listening to pretty much everyone (especially Wattie on his cycling idea's) and taking everything on board! Have passed my P's test (only 363 days to go before some serious test rides) and have booked in a Superbike school day for Level 1 training (July 28th if anyone else is keen?). Yes Im on the little Ninja but think I need some serious help in leaning the bastard over further (re Wattie advice again).
Some maintenance stuff over a BBQ would be awesome as I am one of those Newbies your all on about. Although Ive figured out a little bit so far but Im always up for a laugh and some more advice...  :)

So thanx to all for the help so far! My only regret is my shift work which means I can't turn up all the time but I figure Ive got years of beers / riding left in me so whats the hurry???

your both single, have time for each other.

frank is very knowledgeable in bike maintenance, and has many kms under his belt.
he is a smart rider, wont ride outside his limits, and would teach you a mountain of stuff.

if you ask him nicely i think he has a caravan spot left for philip island 8)

I think just riding with the right people is the key. Luckiy in NSW I think we've got a really good mix of people with skill/experience to set any newbs a fairly good example. As for mechanical/maintenance stuff, an arvo over at Dave's place drinking his beer and you are well and truly mentored :D :D

What i would say is that for specific stuff ie getting ready for your P's etc I'm happy to spend some time in a carpark. I did this with Owen a little while back and I think he got some benefit out of it.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Thanks very much guys, but I don't think that I have sufficient qualifications to be a mentor at this stage, But seeing as both Wattie and Hoffy, being the SHCC Rider Trainer and President and being the fountain of knowadge that you both seem to be in everything from 'backing it in to tyre pressures', (it still amazes me that both of you haven't been called up to race in the WSB), I would think you to guys are infinately more qualified to be Brendans mentor and as such I have forwarded on both of your addresses and phone numbers to him.

Also unfortunately the caravan spaces have been filled at this time, but there is space under the annex if someone wants a covered camping area.

As for my mechanical abilities, hmm not sure about those, maybe you check with Madkaw for a reference on that, cause I dont think that they are up to scratch.

I have a batch of home brew just about ready for drinking too... ;)

But yeh, a maintenance / suspension day could be organised if theres enuff interest. The neighbours won't be happy about it after the events of the last one, but who cares about them... ;)

I think we already have a type of mentoring in place. Group rides, track days etc with plenty of experienced rides mixed with intermediates and newbies. If ppl want to learn they will look, listen and ask.. and they will listen to those they believe are best to help them.

Hmmm - it looks ok at first glance, but if you de-construct, it's a load of spam.gif
