Leaky Micron

Post by Plaz »

Hey all has anyone had a problem with their Micron blowing past the front seals? I have only had this one on since October (when I got the Bike) and I had to go th Bills (Bloody Traitor, but thats another story) to day and switch back to the standard can (a pain in the arse to say the least) so they can send it back to Micron in Sydney. The piped is fitted to my 636 and I am less than impressed to say the least.

Is it a bolt-on or slip-on type exhaust?

You know its funny, Gold Coast Kawasaki were trying to sell me a Muzzy pipe and told me that Micron's are known to have sealing problems.

I thought it was bullshit as they were trying to get me to buy a Micron but there actually might be some truth to it.

Nobike,
I had the opposite down here, every body I spoke to told me that the Micron was the best suit and quality for the 636, I nearly bought a Yoshi Tri oval but was talked out of it by three sperate dealers.

there ya go, they were probably just trying to get me to buy the Muzzy. Come to think of it GC Kawasaki are affiliated with Whales Kawasaki who also are the national distributor for Muzzy.

i recently put a Micron on my 02 zx6r and am very impressed, however it did have a small leak around the join but some sealant fixed it right up 9 but mine is a bolt on). A lot of people have had the same problem, all with different pipes, it is probably just the luck of the draw.

A high-temperature silicone sealant will sort you out.
The ARROW pipes used to do it on my VFR800 & SV650S, as well as the TBR system on my old VFR750. A coat of sealant and Bob's your uncle 8)
