Hello all,
I'm having a few problems with my project 600(ZX6R F2).
She won't start for me.
Now, I've done the following:
Bought a new battery
Checked all fuses.
Checked Starter relay(good)
When I hit the starter I can hear the fuel pump kicking in(which also leads me to believe the F/P relay is good), but there is no action from the starter motor at all. Have tied the clutch "in" to bypass the clutch switch and have tried with the sidestand up and down, though with the fuel pump activating, I'd assume they're also good. Bike is in neutral. Coils don't seem to be getting power either.
Now I have heard the bike turn over (wouldn't catch but the starter motor was definitely working) when I was checking it out first, though when I got it home I found that there was only a 15amp fuse in the main fuse slot, so swapped it out for the correct size.
Am I missing anything?
I'm hoping that the ignition unit isn't buggered.
Has anyone had a similar problem with one of these?
Peter.

Re: Starting problem
Hmmm, If its worked before and not now it sounds like a possible wiring problem.
Check the switch block first as they have tendancy to be a bit troublsome.
Track the wiring and see it theres any dodgy joins.
The Starter motor may be stuffed so you may want to get that checked..
PM Strika, he has a similar model race bike and should be able to help..

Re: Starting problem
My fuel pump on the 10 still runs when the ignition gets cut by the sidestand switch. Because of its location the sidestand switch can sometimes get stuck in the "stand down" position. I'd suggest double checking it or temporarily bypassing it as quick check before getting into the expensive stuff.IrishPete wrote:...and have tried with the sidestand up and down, though with the fuel pump activating, I'd assume they're also good...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!
Thats a shout of joy believe it or not!
Well, I finally found out what was causing the problem.
All switches, relays, cutouts etc were fine, but I managed to trace the problem back to a dodgy wire going to the clutch switch. Switch itself was fine when I tested it so I thought no more of it and assumed everything was peachy with it.
Fook me, I only found it out of sheer desperation too, can only imagine what an auto leccy would've charged for it
Thanks guys for your help and suggestions, very much appreciated indeed and if I can return the favour at any stage, please feel free to remind me!
