My rant on Bar Heaters...

Post by fireyrob »

Im f'n tired after 4 nights in a row of the same BS but here's my rant for the day!!!

I know its cold as people (aka idiots) keep putting bar heaters next too their beds / their child's bed (yes Im not kidding) all night and wonder why firies are dragging them out of bed at 3am with a house alight around them! Morons :x

Bar heaters aren't meant to be put close to washing thats drying, near a curtain / lounge or they can even heat up the carpet around them! In fact get a new oil heater... Yes they are slower but they're less likely to light up the room around them and more likely just to short out and trip the safety switch when they fail! ;)

Yes Im venting and Im paid to do it but I cant believe how stupid people can be esp with CHILDREN!!!!! FFS throw away bar heaters if you have them at home PEOPLE!!! KSRC make a perfectly good hoody / scarf combination! Much cheaper too...

R

PS, Get some smoke alarms and get out of the place as smoke wasn't meant to be chewed!!!

PPS, sorry but I needed to vent somewhere and you lot seem to listen at least 5% of the time :D

Come on mate, the darwin principle doesn't work too well if you give the candidates fair warning...

What about those electric fan heaters, are they as bad?

Couldn't we just use lots of candles...

Perhaps my gas water heater would be more efficent if I wrapped blankets around it...

And if I leave my electric blanket on all day, not just my bed,, but my whole bedroom will be warn when I get home...

I thought this thread was going to be on Heated hand grips!
We still haven't turned a heater on at our place yet, it's amazing the difference between living on the coast and living out west, actuallythe temperature difference is noticable as you go down the Mona Vale hill into Mona Vale!

My 4 burner BBQ works a treat in the kid's room.
I have painted the hood in black paint as the colour radiates heat better than lighter colours.
Kids are warm & gas is cheap! :D

Not so bad as they have some protection as the elements are not that exposed... Just keep them from being too close to stuff!

Went to the Olds last weekend, decided to give Dad a hand and clean out his shed/garage (aka His Special place) now at 84 hes prone to fallign over while using the CHAINSAW !! and braking his hand while trying to clean the gutters....

While cleaning out the shed we found no fewer than 7 bar heaters... ARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH His response, they work well and may come in handy one day!! :x

Hubby decided to deal with them.. grabbed them all pulled the fronts off, broke the elements and put them in the back of the car to dispose of at home.. cuz the old bugger would have re-wired them when we were not looking.

Those bar heaters are nasty pieces of shite that should be banned !!.
