rear suspension service
Hey all. Might be pulling out the rear suspension and getting it serviced. So question is, what is the best way to secure the bike whilst the suspension is in the shop? On an xvs cruiser recently when I helped with this, we just let the rear sit on the tire... Do you think that might be ok? Put it on the swingarm stand and let it rest that way?

Re: rear suspension service
When the downpipes are OEM, it is usually possible to get a bottle-jack into the groove where the pipes join for the link pipe, and hold it up like that, with the bike resting on the jack and on its side-stand & front wheel (tripod?) - rattle out the (2) 14mm's and Bob's with ya auntie...
...or if ya feeling paranoid, then swing it up onto some bricks and wood... (having good stand or hoists is easier tho')
Lube linkage when apart hey

Re: rear suspension service
With rearsets with fixed (non fold-up pegs) I sit the pegs on axle stands and pull the shock out. You could put a piece of steel rod through the swingarm pivot and sit it on the axle stands. I once used the handle from my hi-lift jack through the headers to hold the front up and a ladder to sit the rear subframe on
