Hi everyone,
After trying to get the GPZ500 sorted I've been told the stator needed replacing - ok no problem there as I suspected it was dodgy. I've also been told that the flywheel / rotor needs to be replaced - can anyone tell me what can go wrong with a flywheel? Yes this model is known for shredding stators with broken magnets but my bike has the OEM replacement flywheel with sealed magnets.
What other bikes use this type of flywheel (model RO03) - surely other models use the same one? I've also read that the later model (such as the KLE500) flywheel can be modified to work (by grinding off the triggers to match the original).
Cheers and TIA,
Wayne

Dunno about most of what you're after, but for other models that use the same part try the reverse fiche of the Ron Ayers website - http://www.ronayers.com/

If it has been pranged you can have some probs. A mate of mine recently bought a wrecked Busa which he is rebuilding and it will be for sale on ebay when it is finished. Anywho, the hit was so hard it broke the frame (he's rewelded it) and the cases got smashed, bending the crank via the rotor. There is 1mm runout with the new rotor. Wonder how the balance would go on that at 12000rpm?

Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Thanks Dave - thats agreat link.
I've had a chat to the dealer - apparently my flywheel sustained some damage around the edges. They are going to clean it up and see how it goes from there. I'm reasonably confident it'll be fine - failing that I'll have to save up for a new one.
I'm so looking forward to getting it back tho. Seriously missing it.
Cheers,
Wayne
