speed sensing
I fitted a speed sensor back on my zx6rr and was wondering what the go is with it reading speed when I change sprockets for different ratios , is there a formula or programe get a real reading or would it still be right , my head hurts thinking about it

Re: speed sensing
it will be wrong mate,
speedo healer is the go. but even then, hard for a tracky because you need to ride it to set the speedo healer up

Re: speed sensing
GPS works pretty good, a few of the boys have lap timers on their phones which is done by Gps and i think it even gives you speeds,,,

Re: speed sensing
Not really. A speedohealer will fix it (you punch in to their website (http://www.healtech-electronics.com/) the original gear ration and the new gear ratio and it gives you the steps for programming your speedohealer. My question would be why you'd bother with a tracky? IMO It's dangerous looking at a speedo on track and unless you're drag racing it doesn't count for shit anyway.Wattie wrote:... you need to ride it to set the speedo healer up
Like Tim said a GPS data logging system is much better because you can analyse speeds (and lap times) off the track after the session.

Re: speed sensing
Thanks for the replies I have seen a calulator some where ( excel programm) that you enter gear ratio , front wheel dia and it would give speed per rpm . I was only after the speed as a comparesion with other bikes I've riden for the main straight at P I . Dave 3 I agree with what you say the only thing I look at on the gauges is the shift light .Good thing it's there cause the digital gauges are close to useless with the sun on them .

Re: speed sensing
On the track does it really matter how fast you are going? Dont have a speed healer on my track bike, just use the speedo to guage whether I am coming in too hot or not hot enough.... and i judge my performance on whether I am catching up to people or not.... (usually not).... just my humble opinion... naturally if you have one, then go for it...
