question regarding chain

Post by Six Addict »

so ive got a chain and sprockets to put on before supers (hoping to enlist the help of a fellow KSRC certified machanic) and the chain says it can either rivetted or clipped together and im gathering the rivet option is the preferred but i could be wrong :? ... and if rivetting is the preferred option, does anyone know how to do it?? :shock:

cheers

rivetting preferred.

basicly a chunk of wood on one side being held by someone.
and a ball pein hammer on the other.

whack it enought the deform the pins so that the link stays together :lol:

i believe a spanner day may be on this weekend. if we get our parts in time :?

to rivet the chain you need a tool to do that, can pick one up from any motorcycle shop or ebay. found one in the US as a quick look but you could find local Click

Rivetted is stronger than clipped, but if you are going to clip it, make sure you put the opened end of the clip against the direction that the chain will spin

hammer and plank of wood should do the trick, but using the tool will ensure a more "secure" rivet :D :lol:

I asked this question a while back
see here -> viewtopic.php?f=21&t=18519
The poll came out 14 for clip, 17 for rivet.
Never did get that chain on - sold the 6 instead.
Chain is available in the for sale section...
