ZRX1200R tune

Does anybody know the best initial carb setup for an 05 ZRX1200 with full Muzzy and standard airbox? I know that there are lots of jet-kit options out there, but where should I start to get real, real close: idle mixture, pilot, needle shim (or replacement and then which groove), fuel level height and main jet size. I'm looking fer grunt, not really top-end, and the budget is kinda tight. Also, apart from making valve lash adjustment easier (coz the valve cover is easier to get off) and probably reducing snap-crackle-pop on overun, does blanking off the exhaust-port fresh-air valves make any difference? (I dont think it will, but i thought I'd ask.) Cut me, bleed green.....Woof.....

Every bike needs to be tuned to its own requirements mate - Best bet would be to talk to the local dyno operator and get it tuned on a dyno.

You could always do what we used to do in the days before Dyno's!!!! Go up two jet sizes, ride it, see what it does. Then go back one size, try it again, see what it does. Then go back to standard Jets and raise the needles with a washer and get on with riding it!!!! :kuda:

Shane at Shane's Bikes and Performance in Warwick did mine. First class job too. 129RWHp on a stock pipe. Removed cat and factory pro jet kit added. :D
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Definitely worth a shot - the airbox might be a pain in the arse to remove/replace, but once you do it a few times, it will become dead easy.

buy the factory pro jet kit the one that includes a large k&n air cleaner go with recommended jet sizes in the instructions you will be impressed with the change i think the kit cost 260 from mick hone in melbourne carby removal is not that difficult my 15 year old son did mine under instruction as i had an injured hand
