Bike care products.
Bike care products.
Hey peoples,
Just received my new zx6r (06) model and im loving it. Its it good nick and id like to keep it that way, especially when the elements have come and gone (Rain, dust, etc...).
So what cleaning products do you use to keep you bike clean? IVe got some Maguires car products (liquid soap, wax) but other than that, ive got nothing. Also, ive noticed the windscreen and headlights are prone to light scratches, so they'll need extra care to maintain.
So what do you use, how often do you use them?
Thanks.

CT10 for the bike and CT14 truck wash for the wheels, chain etc... Get a gurney from Bunning’s for $80.00 and a good polish. I use ICE and you are done. That’s what I do anyway and it always comes up a treat just watch out for your cables and electronics.

Dude dont use a high pressure washer.... you can get water into places it really should not be, better to be safe than sorry & not take the easy option when cleaning your bike, Do it properly by hand & at the same time you can also examine the bike for potential problems things coming loose or out of place
As for what to use because on a bike, you are using such small amounts you should buy the best for your baby
Personally I use the CT range for basic cleaning like Stuart & for the finishing touches Mguires (sp)

To give it the between wax's polished look there is a Motul Spray on Dry clean product that is pretty bloody good.
I kero the chain and any greasy bits, truck wash the under bits and wheels, wash the rest with a car wash and then dry it and spray it with the above Motul stuff. Be careful with pressure washers if you use one. Anywhere near a bearing and you'll just push dirt and water into them.
Keep it like new and you'll reap the rewards when you go to sell it. Once they get crappy you can never get them back properly.

Always careful with it that's why I got a high/low pressure washer works just right. enough power without haveing to worry to much.

For the wheels, is it a spray on application? Bloody hard to get in and clean the wheels with a sponge coz the brake disc are in the way.stuartzx6 wrote:CT10 for the bike and CT14 truck wash for the wheels, chain etc... There's also a Meguires bike shine product which is pretty good but the Motul stuff is pretty sensational. Like anything Motul it aint cheap but for a quick spruce up after a ride it's good.

Re: Bike care products.
I always just used Mr Sheen for pretty much everything.
Motul Chain Clean for the chain and tough grime (eg wheels).
Then again I wasn't too anal about getting it perfect - it would always be filthy again after the next commute.

Just keep the bike in your garage and buy yourself a pair of these and stay on the couch watching the telly. Much safer!

I use Meguiars products for washing and polishing and for rims, took Phil's advice and use WD-40 - it works a treat.

I use EXPORT DEGREASER from the 2 dollar shop sprayed over ALL the bike except the seat and chain wait for one stubbie then rinse off with the hose and hand . removes bugs , brake dust , road grime and wont hurt the paint or plastics . Chamois to finish . DON'T use the foam degreaser it's shit
catch ewe later bob
