Dangerous to say the least
Not that many of you will have Harleys but maybe you have Progressive brand Shockers!
We were riding back from Dalesford and were aware that the r/h shocker was leaking oil but this still came as a complete surprise!
Braking hard at a higher speed would have been much worse result.
Shockers popped out and Bike hit the deck at roundabout..........
And Bush mechanics got us home

Re: Dangerous to say the least
fuck me, i fitted a pair of progressives to my old ltd450, biggest advatage it'd have over that harley is weight, or a significant lack thereof. (bought shocks for a 190kg bike an fitted them to a 160kg bike). but still, fuck me!

Actually the heavier the bike the better, it was upward momentum that popped them both out.mike-s wrote:fuck me, i fitted a pair of progressives to my old ltd450, biggest advatage it'd have over that harley is weight, or a significant lack thereof. Took four of us to lift it high enough to pop L/H one back in and then unbolted R/H and reassebled and then roped it to stop it happening on the way home.
Twas a slooooow trip home to Geelong

Re: Dangerous to say the least
I understand the weight thing, but i was more thinking about whoever has the bike now, hopefully the model shocks are considerably different to the ones i put on there.seiko1 wrote:Actually the heavier the bike the better, it was upward momentum that popped them both out.mike-s wrote:fuck me, i fitted a pair of progressives to my old ltd450, biggest advatage it'd have over that harley is weight, or a significant lack thereof. Holy Snapping Dampers Batman !
thats pretty ordinary....
Anyone with a twin-shock bike wanting to upgrade ??? YSS or Hagon make *quality* suspension units for twin-shock bikes.

That was Mike s' bike not the Harley in question.P4nza wrote:160kg Bike... ok...190kg supported limit on both shocks...ok... iff we add a person weighing 70-120kg? thats a total weight of 230-280kg...i see why they popped![]()

The shocks were custom made specifically for the Harley and took 6 weeks to get.
The bike has a tank dent, bend gear lever, busted indicators and scratching to the chromework.

Re: Dangerous to say the least
Good stuff Gos - YSS actually have replacement shocks for the postie!
Unfortunately they cost just as much as a Lifan 140cc engine

choices.... choices.....
who am I kidding?

Re: Dangerous to say the least
About to send this reply to Progressive shocks after their refusal to cover damages.
Their Wanker Lawer who obviously doesn't think us Aussies have a shred of intelligence has responded (finally) by "saying that the fault was rectified in the next model is not an admission of liability"
"You should have known that a leaking shock could fail in such a way"
Anybody???? Would you have known that a leaking shock could separate???
Gimme your opinion of the "question" and "my reply"
The Reply.......
Apparently I have some Fucken Tosser in your Office to thank for being taken off the Leash!
Really I can't believe I have been silent so long considering the Moral Dilemma I have been dealing with on a daily basis.
There are hundreds and possibly thousands of FAULTY Shockers out there fitted to bikes, with completely ignorant owners thinking that they are safe riding their bikes.
To imply or even consider that they would be even slightly aware that a leaking shock could lead to such a catastrophic failure is pure Lunacy and extremely negligent on your behalf. Only one Shock was leaking anyway so how do you explain the failure of both?
Your "Duty of Care" has been completely and Criminally ignored and that is something I am surely about to RECTIFY.
No-one on this Planet will be able to do a Web Search for Progressive, Shocks, Shockers or Suspension and not see your busted arse fucken inferior quality and down right DANGEROUS Product.
Eight thousand odd Dollars will seem cheap after you are driven OUT OF BUSINESS because of your failure to do even so much as a recall.
On a lighter note "fuck you"
