Saw TISM live at the Collingwood town hall in about 1988/89/90 ...somewhere around there! From memory I was off my head on LSD! :kuda: Real LSD...not the stuff they try and pass of as LSD these days! Stuff that made you see lots of funny stuff for about 48 hours!

fav song is still "Greg the stop sign!" even though it was the most commercial song they did! Did enyone ever find out who they actually were??? :?

One of my mates was the drummer in this band, needless to say we saw them quite a few times.

Check out the hair in the crowd

Gos, thank you for this thread! It's keeping me awake on a rather quiet night shift :)

Phil - great taste! I also put the Radio Birdman link in on page 2 :)

Strika, Madkaw, thanks for the TISM links. I love TISM, I have seen just about every Brisbane show since 1994 or so. The members of TISM have been credited. This from Wikipedia ( I know it's certainly not a peer-reviewed journal, but it has it's uses.)

"However, when TISM performed on John Safran's Music Jamboree in 2002 playing (He'll Never Be An) Ol' Man River on instruments from Greece, their names were revealed during the credit roll which read ""(He'll Never Be An) Ol' Man River" by Damian Cowell / Peter Minack / Jack Holt / James Paull / Eugene Cester [...] Performed by TISM.[37] The members' names were also published later, alongside information on "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me" when it hit success in Sweden and Germany in 2004.[38][39]"

Also, when the guitarist Tokin' Blackman James "Jock" Paull passed away from cancer mid 2008, he was credited nationally in the news as TISM guitarist, which surprised me at the time, but when I thought about it, I realised that the band had decided that his musical achievements should be recognised.

Ron Hitler-Barassi: Vocals (Peter Minack)
Humphrey B. Flaubert: Vocals / Drums (Damian Cowell)
Jock Cheese: Bass (Jack Holt)
Eugene de la Hot-Croix Bun: Keyboards (Eugene Cester, uncle of Jet's Nic Cester)
Tokin' Blackman (first billed as Tony Coitus): Guitar (1992–2008) (James "Jock" Paull)
Cheers,
Anne

Let's see if I can stretch the memory, It was the first time we had daylight saving and the hadn't adjusted the clocks at the old showground, not that abortion at Homebush, the stage was set on the infield and they came out in four individual white mercedes, when they hit the stage about 200 or so jumped the fence and the security and cops tried to send them back then the rest of the crowd just went as close to the stage as they could like about 50 feet away and then just settled on the infield, I think there was about 10 to 15 thousand, my brother inlaw whos aw the stones play at Randwick reckoned it was the best he had been to, we were to high up in the stand to get there, the volume was the best for any outdoor gig ever, they played for about 2.5 to 3 hours and had their break durning Whole Loota Love leaving Bonham on stage for a 20 minute solo then the rest of the boys came back finished the song and went into their "acoustic bracket " while Bonham had a rest. Did I mention that about 5 minutes into the drum solo he threw his sticks away and did the whole thing with his hands, unbelievable.

Check this one out

Whilst the memory is working I remember they tried to do a consert in the middle of January at Blacktown showground and one of the bands playing, besides Blackfeather Ariel et al was a new band of weird blokes called Skyhooks, the mates and I had already worn a groove through Living in the Seventies but most of the crowd hadn't seen nor heard of these weirdo from Melbourne, the initial reception wasn't what you would call welcoming and then they played Smut and brought the house down.

The National Battery gigs at the Hordern were good you would get Zoot, Masters Apprentices, Sherbert for the lasses, Chain and a whole heap of top Aussie Rockers for the princely sum of two D cell batteries.

Ah memories and for you yunguns the music died in '79 :kuda:
