zx9r parts, fit zxr750

Post by kwakamad »

HI there, i am new to KSRC. A big gday to all was wondering what parts would be interchangeable say a zx9r 00 and zxr750 95? Can triple clamps, front forks from my zx9 go onto a zxr750 frame, also rear shock? any info would be very helpful!! thanks

Welcome to the club.
You've come to the right place - I don't have the answers you seek, call 123... oh hang on ;)
There been a bit of zxr750 and 9r swapping going on around here - someone will be able to help.
Have fun.

ZXR's had USD forks and the E model 9 had conventional forks. First question would be why change what was known as the "best front end in the business" ?

At the end of the day you could probably make any shock fit - BUT - would it be worth it ?? I'd be getting one from a ZXR and get it setup properly ;)

Phil thx for the heads up, i was lookin into maybe doin a few face meets in 2010 pcra and being a thru and thru kwaka man was hoping to pick up a zxr750 94/95. As i have my zx9 setup ,racetech springs, gold valving etc. Was curious to no, any info on zxr750's would be a great help. Also is it possible to put a 9 engine in a 750 frame without to much drama.I did see one few mths ago i think it was a B engine thou! cheers

As far as I am aware the B models are the only ones that fit, and althought it isnt just a straight swap it can be done. In fact Dave#3 has one of the finest examples going. Josh (jpbikeboy) also had a turbo zx9 in a zxr chassis

Cheers Phil.

Yes, it's possible to bolt a B series 9 engine into a zxr750 frame - the top engine mounts on the engine need to be elongated by about 5mm but apart from that it's pretty straightforward. There's heaps of great info here too.
