Brake discs - ebay vs wreckers..
The ZX6 needs new front discs and after sticking my hands in my pockets and finding a pile of lint, a piece of string and a piece of chewy, I'm face with a conundrum;
"Do I get a set of discs from the wreckers or do I go for the Chinese made ebay cheapies?"
Pros and cons;
Wreckers - Pro - I can get them now
Wreckers - Con - They could be warped and definitely could be under thickness from being used.
Ebay - Pro - They're new
Ebay - Con - They're Chinese made, and I don't have much faith in Chinese manufacturing, and these are brakes we're talking about so it's serious...
So I come to you guys looking for your input. What has your experience been with stuff like this?
Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't touch those Chinese brake discs. Especially the dodgey eBay ones.
Might be worth getting someone with a gauge to come with you and check for warp-age or undersized.

Seems to be the advice I've got so far. Might pay the wreckers a visit with my good old verniers...

planet discs 4/6 woodbine crt wantirna if max is still there 980170671 when i spoke with him a couple years ago now he was sorta semi retired if you go to a wreckers take a "thingy- majig" to check there still RWC
verniers are only good if the outer edge of the disc is worn to the same thickness.....generally not...you'll need a "thingy-majig"

Wreckers discs are always measured & have the thickness written on them, warpage is not really measurable & 99% of the time the wreckers can't ride the bikes they wreck so you hafta take a punt but they'll swapover or refund you if they're warped.
I'm like you with the Chinese brakes trust issue.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've now got better questions to ask, and better people to ask questions of than just using the yellow pages and looking up ebay.

What's your life worth. For what it's worth I would rather not ride than put secondhand brakes or tyres or cheap crap on my bike.

Apart from Planet discs there is also Awesome discs in Ringwood Vic, uysed them for 3 dics on the old zzr and no complaints, that being said, if there's 2 blokes in Vic that do it i'm sure you could find a few in NSW too that do the same thing, basically slap a new rotor on your carriers.
