Want more induction roar ZX6R J1 - REPORT
Would removing the secondary intake's inlet silencer (no.3) improve induction roar?

in the sides of the front fairing, you have your air intake on each side.. as apart of that you have a silencer built into each on, you'd have to cut the silences off and tape them up..l
But in all honesty get yourself a can before you bother trying to increase your air intake..

Tip.. leave the engine alone..
touch the air box in the fairing ONLY..
You can also remove the wire mesh in the airbox if you wish.

Air into the exhaust port to help burn off any unburnt fuel.NovaCoder wrote:What are 4 and 5 doing, is that part of the 'Clean air' thang?

re: Want more induction roar
#3 is resonator to reduce noise. However it is not clear what noise. Is it mechanical noise, or induction noise ... the later I really want
#4 & #5 are vacuum valve/reed system to let fresh air in AFTER combustion process. This makes cleaner emmission.

Re: re: Want more induction roar
You're almost answering your own question here as #3 is the resonator to reduce noise from #4 and #5...which I expect would be more clattery noise than a roar.javaman wrote:#3 is resonator to reduce noise. The ones you are after are what Dan was referring to, the resonator boxes that hang off the bottom of the ram air intakes inside your fairing.

re: Want more induction roar
hey Jarvs,
My can makes the beast sound very loud...
I'll swap cans with ya and ya wont know what hit ya as far as noise is concerned... lol
But I'm with Dan on this one.. leave motor alone and play with can. Just my 2 cents worth....
cheers

Java,
"what they all said" for starters. Then my question to you is: when do you get the loudest "induction roar"? mine tends to be at about 6000 rpm in 1st...... not too high in rev range that engine blocks it out and not too low for it not to be even kicked in and not enough wind noise yet to block it either..... is yours the same? does sound sweet though!
cheers,
Yankee

Re: re: Want more induction roar
I think the model(s) before our J1's didn't have any resonators in the induction tubes and sounded better.....does anyone know if this is correct?Yankee wrote:Java,

Mine are going to be yanked next time I have the tank off, will let you know if it makes it sound any better (not that it doesn't already screem its nuts off thanks to the Yoshi end-can).
