Re: 636 vs 600
I've got a 05' ZX-6RR 600cc.
Basically it was made so it was eligible for racing. Few differences like coating in the front fork, different ratio gearbox, apparently the wheelbases are slightly different also.
Here is a site that outlines the differences and the specs - http://www.motorsports-network.com/kawa ... et/ZX6.htm
If it's for the street, 636... If you want to race, 600... most parts are shared between the two but sometimes I wish I got a R6, CBR, or Gixxer as there is just one 600 model and parts are easier to come by.
Cheers,
Matt

Re: 636 vs 600
Which year model 600 and 636 do you want to compare Kev? For example, an '05 636 will make more HP than an '00 600, but an '09 600 will make more HP than an '05 636.

Re: 636 vs 600
Yes, that's correct.
You can get the ZX6RR (which was always a 600cc so it could be entered in that race category)
Then there's the ZX6R (the one you usually see on the road - has one less "R"
). Up to and including the 2001 model, they were 600c. Then from the 2002 model to the 2006 model they were 636cc. From the 2007 model onwards, the ZX6R was back to 600cc.
So, 2000 - 2001 ZX6R = 600cc (example: Six Addict's bike)
2002 ZX6R = 636cc (example: grayrm's bike)
2003 - 2004 ZX6R = 636cc (example: ? I don't know - you don't see many around anymore, though they were great bikes)
2005 - 2006 ZX6R = 636cc (example: robracer's, mine & red_dave's bike)
2007 - 2008 ZX6R = 600cc (example: ijuschill / Dizzi 's bike)
2009 ZX6R = 600cc
Does that make sense?

It's only a toss-up if you're a tosser - the only real choice is clear
