Ahhhh Nelso you didn't offend moi, I don't get offended, I just clarified what I wrote and heck you got just as much right to state what you know, I say always good to have a healthy discussion, I mean that is what is so great about this place we all have different backgrounds, experience and knowledge and if we can't share it with each other without insulting each other, then it's very sad as we will miss out on learning or gaining something new.

Nelso, I don't doubt that you know plenty mate, or that you have plenty of experience. You think a pro body builder is the king of fat loss, I think a cyclist who trains 1,000km's/week well and truly trumps the fat conversion ability of the body builder. Everyone's life experiences teach them things. Some learn about limits, some learn that limits are just temporary barriers to achieving our goals.
Even you changed your opinion from,
Even you changed your opinion from,
toIf you did loose more than 2 or 3kg(in 12days) it will be a reduction of glycogen and water storage in the muscle
which is close to the 8kg's fat loss you originally argued against being possible isn't it...the most body fat you will convert is still less than 5kg per week.

Re: How much weight can a grown man lose in 12 days?
The two statements above are both still true and the chance of an average person losing 8kg of fat in 12 days is still very unlikely. My warning to people was that it is more than fat loss that is contributing to their weight loss and to go for a consistent long term approach as it will have more sustainable results. The diet industry is a multi billion dollar industry and despite the ridiculous claims that are made in advertising the success rates are still very low and results come slowly. As soon as a formula/product/drug/program comes along that gets better results than current scientific knowledge is capable of, the inventor will be rich beyond comprehension. There is current research on drugs/supplements/genetic engineering that are showing a lot of promise and will most likely one day make what is currently impossible possible, but for now we have to settle on the physiological limitations of the human body. With that being said I will leave it up to you to decide for yourself what you can or can't achieve. Good luck Stereo with maintaining your efforts beyond the 12 days as that is what will give you the far greater results.

Re: How much weight can a grown man lose in 12 days?
Yesterday was the first day ofcourse, turns out I weighed in at 123kg... So 2kg higher than I thought.. Mind you, some of that will be water weight.tim wrote:Update Stereo?
In any case, here is my diet for yesterday. I am only making a note of my diet so you scientists can make negative comments

My aim is to keep my metabilism going by eating regularly, not having too many carbs in the evening.
Breakfast : One piece of toast with 1 teaspoon of nutella.
Morning tea : an Apple
Lunch : Jaffle with canned spaghetti
Afternoon tea : Fat free yoghurt (cheescake flavoured, yummo!)
Dinner: Chicken Noodle Spinach Stirfry (1 serve of singapore noodles, 2 cups of spinach, 85gr chicken, soya sauce, served with a tablespoon of sweet chilli sauce on top).
Evening snack : 3 rice crackers all with a sliver of cheese on top.
Excersize: Cardio 25 mins (treadmill, crosstrainer) weight, Back/shoulders/bicepts, 5 mins cardio (bike), 5 mins cooldown. All up about an hour in the gym.
I think the only mistake I really regret from yesterday was having dinner at 5:30PM . I feel a bit uncomfortable in the gym if I have just eaten so prefer to wait at least an hour.... That made me really hungry late at night. I think I will have to put up with the discomfort.

Maybe go to the gym before you have dinner?
I always did that with my Karate training - meant for late dinners, but seemed to work better.

Re: How much weight can a grown man lose in 12 days?
i did a KJ controlled diet and ate only 7000kj a day and i was 100.2kg and lost 2.9kg in 1 week!
That was with little or no exercise either, just KJ control!

Re: How much weight can a grown man lose in 12 days?
Yeah, gonna move dinner to after gym.
The main reason I have been avoiding that is because my daughter goes to bed about 7pm... If I wait to go to the gym after that I end up eating at 9pm!...
I guess I will move my gym visit to straight after work.... that might work.

there is pro's and cons to moving dinner to after training but in the simplest form the fact that your providing the body with vital nutrients to regenerate after training is essential.
However the down side to this is that eating late could cause issues with carb burning as you will have settled down and gone to bed well before the body has the oportunity to burn it all off thus encouraging the body to convert this to fat as it is not needed as simple sugars for immediate energy.

Re: How much weight can a grown man lose in 12 days?
So today was a pretty crappy day...
Breakfast consisted of a wholemeal muffin with a boiled egg
Snack - None (was busy and nowhere near food)
Lunch - 2 slices of wholemeal bread - Lettuce, a slice of cheese, and union and a slice of pineapple. (and some mayo, couldnt help myself)
Snack - Nothing (dont ask)
Dinner - 1 and a half cups of veges (beans/carrots/peas) and 100gr of lean beef
Evening snack - Wholegrain cracker and an egg.
My workout sucked, missing out on my afternoon snack made me lethargic and hungry... Did cardio for about 30 mins and then buggered off home.
Tomorrow will be a much better day, I am going to carry my snacks with me just in case I get caught out again like yesterday..
On the good side of things, got my bike back from a Major Service...

Not bad, could be better... Im trying to replace more and more of the diet coke I drink (I know! dont start!) with water...Mike wrote:Good work mate. What is your fluid intake like?

Water does wonders. I was drinking 2-3 cans of coke a day at one stage, not losing any weight at all, swapped to just water changed nothing else about my diet or exercise regime and dropped over 3kg in two weeks.
