What type of fuel in the old dunga?
Just inherited a 1983 XT250T. Not sure what sort of fuel to put in it.... I'm going out on a limb and thinking it probably ran leaded when new, but what should I put in it now?

Petrol I think
........sorry mate. Rightstart han an early 80's XT and we used to just run it on normal unleaded. It went fine.

It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Normal unleaded (91) should be fine in this bike mate - you could add some of that Valve lubricant stuff if you want ?

Doesn't suprise me that while the rest of the world were using leaded fuel that the Japs were using unleaded.
Thanks guys.

Re: What type of fuel in the old dunga?
the Japs were using this back in the early 70's mate - the first kwakka900 - the Z1 of 1972 - was released with hardened valves seats specifically for using unleaded fuel in the US market.....we were way behind with the introduction of 'normal' unleaded fuels well into the 80's......aardvark wrote:Doesn't suprise me that while the rest of the world were using leaded fuel that the Japs were using unleaded.
Thanks guys.
Most jap bikes built during the 70's (especially models towards the later half) can cope with unleaded pump fuel .....that valve-seat protection/lubricant stuff does work, but its only needed every 4 or 5 tankfuls....

Wot he said
Unless your running an old side banger Harley , Norton , indian , Beeza etc , pretty much all 4 stroke jappers ran stellite or similar seats and zorst valves . std ULP should be fine , PULP if she pings under power.
Old???? 83 is relatively cutting edge compared to some of the bikes I've had !!

Re: What type of fuel in the old dunga?
Mix it with Silkolene Pro KR2 for that nostalgic waft - 100:1
That would be 10ml for every litre then.
Avoid using diesel though.
