48k Major Service

Post by Saki »

Hey guys,

ZX10 is coming up for 48k major service within the next few thousand km's. Went to a few bike shops to get a ball park on a price and i am getting between $600-$900.

Most things i can do on a service, like oil, filter, coolant, plugs etc etc, but things i haven't attempted myself as things like Valve stuff etc etc.

So just wondering is there anyone in QLD Area, that you guys can reccomended who is good and cheap, like i notice LAE racing in Brisbane is a sponsor so there is a bit of a saving already.
Otherwise is there some one who is skileld enough and could show me the ropes on how to do it!

I have the work shop manual and have flicked through it, but stil a little unsure. I guess what i am trying to do is save money and not spend it all at the shop, if i can find a cheaper place or someone who can help!

Cheers guys :D

$250 for your valve clearances sounds reasonable, the PC on the other hand

No, i am not skimping, but i can do most of the things on the major service. I've just never done a valve clearance before and thats about the only thing i can't do. Fork oil and regrease swing arm have recently been done. Otherwise all teh checks, brake fluids, pads, engine oil, filter, coolant etc etc

Yeah i thought 350 for a custom tune sounded a bit high also, but quite a few people i've spoken too say LAE Racing is the best place to go thats local (well its 70k's away!)
