ZX9 track set up

Just have a couple of questions for those 9 track gurus

I'm having some tipping in issues, (probably need to go faster ) and getting a bit of head shake/bike wobble down the back straight at QR.
For those who don't know, I bought Darren's (kwak addict) ex TKA ZX9.

Rear shock height: The rear end seems high and the rear shock is 355mm from bolt centre to bolt centre. For those who have (or have had) a 9 as a tracky, does this seem high and what height is a good starting point.

Fork height: Currently the clip ons are on top of the triple clamps with the top of the forks equal with the top of the clip ons (see attached picture). In regards to the amount of fork to have sticking out of the triple clamps, all that I've read and been told that this is about the right amount and move them up or down about 5mm depending if I want quicker or slower (for want of better words) steering. I presume the placement of the clip ons above or below the triple clamps is personal comfort and whether you want to feel 'on' the bike or 'in' the bike.

Mine got around the creek pretty well, it had,
the front end dropped by 5mm (any more and the engine case scraped on the track) I also put the clip ons under the top triple clamp.
The rear had an ohlins shock and the ride height was adjusted to about the max, I think it was 15mm ( theres a missing thread as the marker on the ride hight adjuster and it was wound up till that was just under the lock nut.)

For some reason I think 335 is the std shock length.. some one may correct this though...

My rear shock is 340mm. My clip-ons are under the triple clamp and the line a few mm from the top of the fork is level with the top of the triple clamp, but it's an '02 model so it came out like that. Your front end looks to be set up at the standard height for an early model. I don't know if all of the 9's had the same rear shock or not but my swingarm and rear tyre are different to yours so they could be completely different.

I'm not entirely sure if this is applicable considering the difference between a 95 and 98 ZX9 and an ex TKA versus almost stock, but thought I should mention it just in case. When I was talking to Craig at WRP last week about a new set of tyres for my 9, as I was toying with the idea of going up to a 190 in the rear from a 180, he mentioned that it wouldn't tip in to the corners as quick with the larger rear. Hope that's of some help.

I always ran 190's on my 98...it was good for 1.41's...





But then I may have done a 1.39 if I put 180's on it... or some new tyres even..

I'm tempted that's for sure, bigger is always better right. I'll probably wait until after my next race meet though and chuck one on for the OP track day on 19th Dec, that way I can get use to the new sensation without the added pressure of qualifying.
