Re: Advice!!! 636 out of action
from the reading i have been doing they vary alot!
have seen some guys say theirs is at 65 deg, others say its sits up high at around 100, all depends on your climate, and the kind of riding your doing. Have also read that being a pressurised system these bikes are designed to run hot and that it helps in making power.
the fan should cut in at around 102-104 deg and drop it to about 99deg where it shuts off again, if your doing heaps of stop start riding and constantly in traffic dont expect to see it drop below 95. Hottest i have seen my bike get was about 106 and that was on a 38 degree day and i was sitting dead still in traffic for about 15 min.
Rob racer, i didnt know 70 - 80 was the norm? i think the thermostat is only fully open once it reaches 80deg, only time ill get those kind of temps is in the middle of winter and cruising on the highway, if im sitting on the highway with heaps of clear air in summer mine will probably sit around the 85 mark and rise to about 90 if i get stuck behind a car and dont get any air flow.
have done some reading and the americans think 100 is pretty normal for riding in traffic, with the 636 i think HI will display when it reaches 118 and then will start flashing at 124 at which point the manual advises it should be shut off
If the bike is getting to 102 deg, and the fan is turning on and dropping the temp i wouldn't worry about it too much, if the temps not dropping and going past 110 i would get the system checked again
Some good advice here too

Re: Advice!!! 636 out of action
I don't do any commuting these days, & most of my riding is the old road & putty, & giving it some it will tend to sit round the 80 mark thats all I can go off for refrence..... the track bike sits on 80 - 85 giving it heaps but thats diferentVukie wrote:from the reading i have been doing they vary alot!

I had the same problem on mine, run a search, i had a air pocket stuck near the thermo, flush your coolant completely and run the race line motul stuff its red and now my bike runs 10C cooler than ever. but the Kwakas still run hot compared to most others.
