Metzler M1 tyre...

Post by Mel »

OK so when I was talking to the dude about buying the 7 it had a fairly shagged pilot power on the front... awesome I thought, I'll kill it properly on the way home and put what I want on it then.

Got there and he had put a brand spanking new Metzler M1 on the front. Never heard of these, but I understand that they are what the M3 replaced??

I have a pilot power on the rear...

Just wondering what peoples opinion the M1 is? I couldn't find much on the internet but then I suck at finding things on the internet.

I'm doing a farride this weekend and it's gonna be wet wet wet I believe so interested as to how it goes in the wet also.

they used to be a pretty decent tyre in their day.

Photomike did a PI trackday in the rain on a pair of them.

they are pretty deep grooved, i'd say they are a good wet tyre 8)

you'll be fine with it.

Not a bad all round tyre the M1. Not super soft and sticky like powers, probably more akin to the road, but grip levels are OK. I scraped the pegs of t my cbr in the dry, and was running 2:12 at P.I in torrential rain. Commuting I got nearly 15,000Km from the front, but I was being gently with them.

I had em found em ok. Nothing compared to the powers but the tech is getting a bit old. Did a track day with em and no complaints. Just remember that you now have a harder tire on the front.
