Are they magazine figures mate ?? I know when the 12 was released, it was supposed to be 180hp !!!photomike666 wrote:....OK, 30 horse was a miss calculation. Gumby is around 175bhp at the crank (184 with ram air), 14 should be around 190. Gumby is 175kg dry, whilst the 14 is 215-218 depending on model....

We had a dyno-day here at Anarchy Road the other day......and some real-world hp figures were as follows:
MFP12 - 154hp. Thats with a Yoshi half-system, PCIII, BMC filters, Nikko Racing TRE, secondary butterflies removed, 16t front sprocket.
A 2008 ZX14 - stock - put out 164hp.
A 2007 ZX14, with PCIII and good exhausts = put out 174hp.
The winner on the day was a 2008 Busa, with PCIII, really trick exhaust, and a lot of other mods - it put out 179hp.
Ram-air - depending on who you speak to - can add up to 10hp to peak reading, but its all speculation. At least on the same dyno, all the above bikes have the same problem - no ram-air......

Re: GIXXERS ROCK !!!!
Difference between real figures and factory figures is real figures are measured at the wheel, factory at the crank. It's amazing how much can be lost through the drive chain. Plus, every dyno is different, so my bike can measure 20hp difference depending on their dyno set up.Gosling1 wrote:Are they magazine figures mate ?? What my original exagerated point was making, was that although the zx14 has more power, it's weight increase far exceeds its power increase over the zx10r
Power to weight based on factory figures
Gumby 175hp - 175kg = 1:1 power to weight
ZX14 190hp - 215kg = 0.88:1 power to weight.
EDIT***
I'm ignoring Torque, as with all top trumph games, you play to your strenght
