Re: A Letter to the Premier
I think you should include "And the States Deputy Police Commissioner" here, wasn't he caught speeding a month or two ago? ahh here we go thanks Googleseiko1 wrote:

Re: A Letter to the Premier
i stopped reading when you brough up the fact that you need to "SPEED" to change lanes "safely" and to get away from being followed closely. I assume he will too.

a dozen cars behind you. You realise that you have to turn left in 500 mtr's.
What are you to do? I know exactly what any normal person would do, they would speed up and I'm not talking 30 or 40 klm's an hour,
I'm talking maybe 5 - 10 to get ahead of the traffic.
That's a basic concept and one regularly practiced by all.
But here that would cost you $146 and would not be any sort of hazzard.

Re: A Letter to the Premier
Steve, couple of flaws in your argument, for starters unless there is a "known" speed camera in the area then everyone drives/rides 5-10k over the posted limit usually anyways, the other thing is any copper (in Vic at least) will tell you it's fine to overtake, but NOT if you have to speed to do it.. speed kills, surely you realise that, even 3kmh over in a 40 zone* can render you liable to lose control of your vehicle and smash you head on into a tree or power pole etc.seiko1 wrote:Wattie wrote:i stopped reading when you brough up the fact that you need to "SPEED" to change lanes "safely" and to get away from being followed closely. unfamiliar road? then if not familiar, you would be running with the traffic, not rounding everyone up?
Keep left unless overtaking, the most ignored rule of the road.

Now everyone get a dictionary and look up the word " hypothetical"
I wouldn't follow you in traffic Wattie, it would take two hour's to do 10 klm's apparently

probably would, because i'd be stuck in the row of 12 cars banked up behind your wife in the right lane when she needs to turn left.
Most of my driving is on work time, so i just cruise with the traffic, and do a shit load of kms and need my licence. Hence why i dont bother with the road riding.
