Max recommended revs for a new bike?

well that is true, thing is, it is quite difficult to ride it hard when you on L's and specialy when you live in the city limits, impossible to get the third gear up to 80% of it's revs let's not even talk about the 4th gear... so since i've read the article i've been thinking of taking my "baby" to a race track The only one i found for hire is WAKEFIELD ( about 2hrs from CDB?). Is there another option? I mean a lil closer to the Eastern Subs?

i have read into this heaps and ive come to the agreement with everyone else... Dont baby it like the manual suggests but dont rev the fucking guts out of it either.. Just keep the revs varied and ride with a combo if mid to high range revs... That way you will work the rings in properly. The machining on motors is so fine now days and there is very little tolerance on the parts so if nothing has gone wrong within the few few hundred km's then it wont go wrong in normal circumstances.

If your super paranoid, drop the run in oil out after first few hundred km's and replace it with more run in. Then replace it again up until 1000. Then go mineral till 5000. Then just run watever u want... Ive heard dont run synthetic untill 10,000 but from all the bikes ive owned and mates who have had bikes its never been an issue and on the dyno's made pretty decent figures!

the article (link by olcoop) recommends NO synthetic oil until the first 1,000kms
It actualy recommends to use 10w 40 petroleum oil on your first change @ 30 or 40 kms ( since the bike could have come with synthetic by default, he rckons first oil change should happen sooner than we'd expect at about 30/40kms as mentioned abobe or even earlier!!!).

Book into one when there's people going (see track days section) the advice and chats between sessions is where you will learn a lot. You need full leathers, but you can hire them for the day if you don't wanna shell out yet....

I've used the method described here ( http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm ) on lots of new car engines and my current ZX14. I've never had a problem after using this method and I've never had an engine use excessive oil even with over 300000 klms posted on some of those vehicles.

I was wondering when this article would make an appearance it wouldn't be a "break-in" thread without it.
