Hello CANBERRA / ARMIDALE
Looks like work may take me to the mighty nations capital or Armidale. Besides the fact it's bloody cold can any who reside or visitors tell me about the places, i.e. liveability, riding on offer, people, real estate, education, etc and how bloody cold is it really.

Hey, it's not that cold now even tho the last couple of nights have been around 0 but thats normal for this time of year as it the temps have always dropped and we have some nice nights after that but you'll probably think that it's freezing tho, the ride options are pretty good, there's the local, which is the Cotter Rd Loop which is around the 1.5 hour mark or so, a run to the Coast or to the surrounding towns , staying off of the main hwy, are pretty good too.

Re: Hello CANBERRA / ARMIDALE
Armidale is awesome during spring and summer - can get cold in winter (especially the Armidale Mall). On the odd occasion you might get sleet or really heavy frosts.
Riding around Armidale - you have the Waterfall Way out through Dorrigo which is awesome or head down to Walcha and play on the Oxley.
Armidale is a university town so a moving population. Plenty of schools around the place - both private and public. Shopping is fine. Houses there use a lot of fireplaces to keep warm so getting wood is pretty important.
All up it's a lovely place to live

You'll love it, if you come to Canberra, yeah sure it's colder than a witch's tit in winter, but you get used to it. very liveable, real estate is pricy with all other states falling in value at the moment besides Sydney & Canberra. I think riding in Canberra is pretty good, not too much traffic problems....unless you like duelling with the tintops at peak period times. A while since my kids were at school but I think there is some good schools in Canberra.
Were all here because were not all there!
My wife said it's me or the bike!!...........I do miss her sometimes!!

Mate
I moved down to Armidale from QLD about 2 years ago and love it down here. Winter took a bit of getting used to, but the seasons are pretty good. Housing, education etc are all good. I rented for the first 12 months just to see where the best places to live would be. Ended up buying a house a little over a year ago. It takes me less than 5 minutes to get to work. That's a big bonus for me.
You won't find any better riding. On your doorstep you have Waterfall Way - The Oxley - and Thunderbolts way. If your into camping and fishing, there's some great places around here. also great beaches just down the road at Coffs or Nambucca.
If you want some info about stuff before making your mind up you can give me a call - I'll PM you my number.
Cheers, ZXRJed
