According to my owners manual the valve clearances need to be done every 12000 kms.

If my experience with my 6R is any guide, the first valve clearance service, at 12,000km, will see a whole bunch of tight valves, then the next two (so far; 45,500 on mine, with the most recent valve clearance check done at a slackarsed 38,500, over 2,000km late) will reveal the clarances to have not budged a micron.

whats that cost you?

im assuming you do the general servicing (ie oil change, filters and plugs) yourself and just send the bike in for the major stuff such as valves?

i change the oil and wash out my stainless oil filter. mechanic does the rest (plugs, air filter, valves etc) and it usually costs about $280-$320 (with iridium plugs).

it really pays to find a good one you can trust and stick with him/her, tim and i have been going to the same guy for over 10 years. he rebuilt tims gpx engine as well as the donk in the supermono race bike.
