old brake master cylinder/reservoir

Hi folks, I have a couple of old front brake systems sitting around for my track bike and I'm thinking of fitting one of them back on to replace the brembo setup I have now, it appears the bore in the brembo may be wrong giving all the braking preasure in the last little bit of lever preasure and almost no feel before that.

One system is completely dry, the other still has some very black looking fluid in it, is there anything to beware of before transplanting either onto the trackie, given that it can't really be tested prior to first use at the track?

Yes, your brembo system must first be installed on my tracky to enhance your braking performance...

I wouldnt have thought that the Brembo would produce that side effect. I had one of those on Nemo and I didnt have those issues with it (except for the standard zx10r shit caliper issue).

I know Dave uses the same with nil effect as well.

The shit thing is that you cant get parts for that unit anymore which makes it harder to service, which is exactly what it might need. Glen from Allfixed can do it and use all the old seals however it is not usual practice.

As to the other MC's. make sure you clean them out first then let them dry overnight. After that all should be good.

What....... do it yourself, all you need is good circlip pliers. Russ when you say the parts are not available is that because they cant be sourced here?

Brembo do not make the seal kits anymore. It made it risky for Glen to service mine after the pin dislodged. If he damaged the seal in anyway it was totally farked

Would it be that hard to modify to suit a different, readily available seal kit? Just a thought

Waiting on Info from my supplier, the forged 19x18 MC is pretty common being the least expensive & is what I had on the Crim but the chances of being able to use non OEM parts would be pretty remote, eg the nissan radial MC I just fitted to the SV is a totally different shape.

Gos I have bought a few things from them, emails are usually answered whithin a day
Postage is the usual 1-2 odd weeks, even from Canada. Can't fault them

I think I've found the answer (but I could also be talking crap)

It appears all the Brembo M/C are designed primarily for Brembo calipers, all of which are 4 piston, the Tokico calipers on the G model ZX6 are 6 piston, meaning more fluid needs to be moved to displace the extra pistons giving longer lever travel. I believe the 04/05 zx10 also uses a 4 piston setup which is why they don't have the same problem.
