A good mechanic eg Glenn at Allfixed will ask you to bring it in so he can take a look at it, take it for a ride and see if he can work it out. Unfortunately with these sort of things unless you can replicate the problem on command it can cost you a bucket while you're chasing shadows.

A mechanic who wants to help you out of it for minimal cost will face the same problem. Good luck with it.
i understand all this and like i said before, i've had all the obvious things checked or replaced and have paper work to show the mechanic whats been done so its getting to the stage where it can be narrowed down to either fuel issue or electrical issue, now dont get me wrong this doesnt mean that its easy to diagnose or cheap either.

Might also have to think about this: if someone is spending full time on your bike, they are turning away other customers. That means turning away repeat customers, but also new customers who could become repeat customers. Sometimes it's not about the money. Or at least, not about YOUR money.

thats all well and good mate, but those repeat customers were once new customers as well. and dont i fit in to the same catagory as and i quote "new customers who could become repeat customers" and if they are spending full time on my bike, how does that mean that they are not making money? e.g if they are working on someone else's bike and turn my business away, its the same as if they were working on mine and they turn away someone else's business! sorry i dont think that point of view makes any sense

Well it's not so much about the number of hours billed as the number of customers they are billed to. That's what equates to long term income. I'm not saying you specifically, but they get 14 hours worth of work on one customer, that customer then finds a cheaper mechanic closer to home (100% loss of income). Or they can bill 14 hours to 7 customers, but 4 of those come back (43% loss of income), and they are way ahead.

i see what your saying, but lets look at it this way 1 person gets his work done and is so happy that he continues to use that mechanic for the next 10 years, and then recommends him to 6 of his friends (being that word of mouth is still one of the best ways to advertise your business, over 25% of total income comes from this) who then also continue to use him for the next 10 years.

This thread is a bit confusing :? ....Firstly your pissed because Glen a well known and respected mechanic around here can't look at your bike straight away and then you say you don't have the fund's yet to fix it....Maybe you should wait till he has the time and by then you'll have the cash....Problem solved :kuda:

mate i'm not pissed because he couldn't look at it straight away so dont assume thats the reason! i said to him whenever he could would be great, money is now in my account so again no problem there! and i'm not pissed at anyone, just trying to find out why no one wants to take on the job! maybe you should read the threads properly before you post your opinion.

I would suggest look for a good mechanic in your area, even the best mentioned in this thread make mistakes, or at least some believe too much in him.

Research and the answer won't come from parrots. ;)

Hey Frank....you have any more ifo....after it cuts out, does it fire straight back up again. Is the bike fully up to temp. Is it a hot or cold day??? The more info you can give the guy who is diagnosing the best....it really does make it heaps easier, and far less stabbing in the dark
