Watch those ebay ads - may be an honest mistake ?

Post by Gosling1 »

Advertised as a Z1000 MkII

Close - but no cigar. This is a Z1000ST. Shaft-drive model, big heavy and great for touring. This one looks in pretty good nick as well.

However - not worth anything like the asking price - even an immaculate example of this model would be $6k tops. They are just not collectable or in the same league as the MkII's.....

Never will be either, but, will improve with time. They all do, even the orphans.

Where does it say it's a Z1R mk11.
Advertised as a Z1000 mk11 . though this not right either. There was a 1000 mk11 around the same era
You are right in saying it is an ST model
Cheers

it is - and it is the model which has the best frame for a streetfighter conversion for a Z (or even.....a chopper conversion  ) - which I got off Panza.

They are a really good strong bike, but heavy and really only suited to touring duties. For that - if you want an old dunger to tour on - these are right at the top of the tree.

Looks sensational mate !! PC has been on the hunt for one of these for years......I think this one belongs to one of the members of the Z Owners over in WA ? There are a group of punters there who own some of the tidiest Zeds you are ever likely to see.....I think I have seen pictures of that particular Mk2 on some other forums.......apart from the non-stock pipes, it is really very nice. Reserve on that baby will probably be up around $12k or thereabouts I would think ? That's what I would put on it anyway....

Hey all, new to the forum. Matt and I live in Wollongong, I just purchased this ST for well under what he was asking, seems pretty decent for an oldie.
One Question though.........can you purchase a new start button setup for the right hand side....seem to be having problems, no lights come on with the key in and on, battery fully charged......any ideas? cheers
Looks like a great forum and hope to get to pluck your knowledgable brains for some ideas...... :D

Check out ebay and z1enterprises.com for replacements switches - but you prob just need to pull yours apart and check everything is connected. It sounds very much like the switch isnt powered which means you have to check that there isnt a break in your loom somewhere. Could probably just have come unplugged . Check the mess of wires under your tank.
