Drugs found in Kawasaki Racing Team trucks

Post by jakels »

WOW
A report by the UK Border Agency has alleged that trucks belonging to the Kawasaki WSB Racing Team were found to have contained quantities of class A drugs and a firearm when stopped at Dover on their way from Italy last month.

Officers allegedly found 18lbs (8kg) of cocaine, 157lbs (71kg) of amphetamine tablets and more than 220lbs (100kg) of cannabis. It was also alleged a handgun and 35 rounds of ammunition were also left lying on a table, unconcealed.

Four technicians from Paul Bird Motorsport, based in Morecambe, Lancashire – the company which runs the Kawasaki team – were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and importing controlled drugs. They were later bailed.

They were Philip Roe, 40, a mechanic and truck driver with the team; Gary Matthews, 50, a truck driver and tyre technician; Mattia Fontana, 27, an Italian mechanic; and Daniel Swyer, 32, who is also a mechanic.

Attempts to contact the team have so far been unsuccessful.

Since kwaka isn't doing so well in WSBK, they decided to diversify in order to build funds.

In keeping with 777 theme they decided to put it on the packing.

Wow, would never have seen that coming. As to the "leftovers", human vacuum cleaners would have gotten rid of it a long time ago

Following media speculation, Paul Bird Motorsport can confirm that a quantity of banned substances had been deposited in a race transporter while the vehicle was in Holland attending the recent Assen World Superbike event.

The substances, along with a number of other illegal items, were discovered upon the vehicle's return to the UK at the port of Dover during a routine examination by HM Customs.

Naturally, the discovery came as a shock to the whole team, including those who were present during the search. The team are confident that no team member has any connection whatsoever with the items discovered. No one has been detained after the time of the search and all team members are able to undertake their normal duties.

There is no suggestion of the Paul Bird Motorsport Team being involved in illegal activities and no other team members have been interviewed following the incident. The team staff present at the time of the search and discovery enjoy the full support and confidence of the team and all involved are determined to offer their full cooperation to HM Customs in their ongoing investigations.

Understandably, the team are now taking stringent measures to increase the security of their vehicles as they travel throughout Europe in future. Despite the personal effect on the team, Paul Bird Motorsport will be attending the next World Superbike event at Monza, Italy at full strength and with a determination to focus on the Championship.
That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... Hunter S. Thompson.

Let me get this right. Superbikes on in Holland, drug courier wants to go to the races and thinks, fuck what about the drugs, the guns and the ammunition. I know I will just leave 200kg of drugs in the back of a Kwaka truck, no one steal them. I better take the gun out and count my bullets, whilst sitting in the back of the truck, racing starts and leaves truck to get top position to watch the days racing. Race day is over drug courier goes back to car and forgets about drugs and gun. Kwaka team comes back to van loads up after a shit weekend, Sees additional candy boxes and thinks Paul must be bringing back sweets for the kiddies. They see the gun and thinks wow Paul is really pissed with us as the racing today, I think someone is going to get fired! Honestly your honour that is how it happened.

Note - Not suggesting Paul is involved but.
