Headlight has much better spread, particularly on low beam, but high beam is so-so. It seems like the headlight beam is spread further with less available light. Gonna re-wire with relays so more light hopefully. Already have Narva Plus50 bulb in there. Adjusting seems to be pretty fiddly.
Got some tips for wiring the parklamp. European ZRXs have different wiring harnesses so it isn't a matter of plug and play. Only one wire on the bike is the correct one to run the parklamp with the ignition on and in the 'park' position on the key. It is the red wire on the ignition switch. Rather than remove the fuel tank to access the wiring harness plug where the ignition switch is wired to, I removed the cover off the bottom of the ignition switch (requires a very small torx wrench) and soldered an extra wire to that terminal on the ignition switch. That looks after the positive connection for the parklamp. The earth side isn't important- any earth will do- as I don't like modifying wiring harnesses unnecessarily, I connected a wire to an eyelet and connected this to one of the two 10mm acorn nuts on top of the headlight where the tabs that hold the wiring harness for the dash/indicators run to.( and that rubber thingo) The lamp socket that comes with the light has an unusual socket built into it which my local auto electrician had never seen, so I bought a new socket with two wires already attached. Attached bullet connectors so removing the fairing takes just two little plugs to disconnect.
Haven't tested it yet but the main reason I want a parklamp on the front of the bike was so when I get home late at night not to have to leave the headlight on to see the keyhole on the lock of my shed- the parklamp should be sufficient in the lock position.
