I want to make my good ol 98 zx9r run as best as it can but im not sure were to start! is hard finding perfomance parts for an oler bike when everyone seems to have forgotten all about them and only make gear for the new models lol.
Was thinking a new jet kit, MAYBE a Muzzys big bore kit from the states and some more modern-ish suspension/brake upgrades. Also a new exhaust, as my old Roo Racing carbon can is showing its age. The previous owner must have left it in the sun too long as its all faded and looks rubbish (still sounds mean as FcuK hehe) was thinking a full stainless Delkevic system. Anyone know anything about these???
If you want it to go better, drop a tooth on the front sprocket, it's the best bang for your buck performance mod you can do. After that, go a full system, re-jet and air filter. I wouldn't bother with any other engine mods. If you needmore power than that, you are better off getting a ZX10 or ZX12.

Only only heard of people having issues when doing the 998 kits on these, I'm with Nelso on this one - more power req'd - get another bike.
One thing I would recomend highly is upgrading the suspenders - the forks can be re-valved by any suspension man that knows what he's doing. Get an Ohlins/Penske/WP etc for the rear. The design of the rear shock means that whatever you do it will still serviceing every 6 moths, nitrogen leaks from the inside contaminating the oil. Ohlins will give you the ride heaight adjustment that was not a feature on the C model like the B, E's & F's had.
If your going to buy an exhaust c- dont buy another crap one - spend the money and buy a quality item. Otherwise just leave the Poo Racing one on it be done with it.
The exhaust on it came with the bike, ive only bought a K&N filter for it and put much much beter tyres on it. Prety sure it had the original front hoop when I bought it 2 years ago
My old 9 had a full yoshi 4 into 2 into 1 system which worked well but you can't go wrong with a full Akra (or other high end) system for great power delivery. As Phil suggested, if you spend the money on a decent full system you will be far better off. In the right hands, with the suspension on it sorted, it will keep plenty of modern bikes honest.

thanks for the input guys! have another silly question but. . . . if i drop a tooth on the front will i need to get a shorter chain or will a stardard 108 link chain still fit? Ive never had much to do with chains/sprockets on a bike before but i want to get all new gear on the old girl. Any thoughts?

Nah, no need for a new chain, it will just go back a little further and give you a slightly longer wheelbase. If your going to do a new chain & sprockets you will measure it up with the new one before you cut the chain anyway.......no problem
sweet as guys! cheers! I always knew that going up a few teeth on the rear geared the bike down more, just like the sprockets they run on a stuntbike, but never realy knew much about changing the front.
