ZXR 750 L Black frame?

Post by Kwak addict »

Fellow Biker Scum,
I've just bought a bare frame through my favourite internet auction site & it's a 8/93 plated ZXR 750 L, I've heard a couple of different stories about what month of the year constitutes the next years model, some say 7th month owards & others reckon the 9th month so I'm not sure if it's an L1 or L2 model.
Anyway, I was under the impression that only the L3 models came with a black frame (with the oh-so-90s purpley/pinky graphics) but this appears to be black from the factory because it has the factory noise test info sticker still attached, the original rivets on the compliance plate & overall it looks like a factory job.
Does anyone know if the black frames were available on the L1 or 2s?

Oh by the way, no I'm not rebirthing a stolen bike or anything sinister, it just occured to me recently that I had almost everything except a frame in my spares cave to build up another bike... then I saw an ad for ZXR bits & the rest is history.

ZX9 C Trackbike - ex Maccarocks & Slow & Wobbly... still a weapon!

Plus a ZX7 & a few ZXR Ls & ZX9 Bs & Cs in various stages of completion.

From memory the black framed bikes were L1's.

I have a 93 L1 with a black frame. And yes it is the pink and purple bike.

Thanx lads, it looks like I was wrong in thinking the black frames were L3s, I have updated that file in my memory banks.
