Man!

After all the years on the super-smooth electric-shaver Six, I'd forgotten how mechanically noisy a bike can get when there's three times as much moving part mass behind the same thickness of crankcase outwer wall.

After it spent four and a bit months levitating up on stands, mostly, I finally borrowed the plate off the Six and took my C1 Nine out for a test-toast around Belconnen a few minutes ago. The rear shock definitely needs a stiffer spring, the front brakes are still irritatingly squishy despite braided lines (bugger changing pads before their time, though; the thing still pulls up plenty good), but that's about it for complaints... apart from the amount of clunks, clatters, rattles and whirring coming from the engine.

I'm not overly worried because the power is there and the gearbox is smooth, but still... are they all like that?

Dont know about the C1 I-K but my F1 has Ticked pretty loudly from new. Now 25000ks later still ticking away no dramas. Less noticeable with the Remus camouflague though, I recently changed back from Fully synth to semi syth oil n noticed the gearbox seems happier about it. Firmer selection n less false neutrals 3rd to 4th.

I never really got to hear mine too well 'cause the Yoshi was too noisy, but the noises I did hear were like what you are describing.
