Re: what fuel do you use?
IIRC Bp is the only company that refines their premium to a 98oct level and everywhere else uses additives to bring their fuel up to 98oct.
Don't quote me on that though. BP Ultimate 98 is all I run in my cage and when I get a bike it's all I'll run in it.

95 octane on the 250... i got worse economy using 98... that and its only designer to run 95... save your sheckels for other things (booze, women, cocaine etc)

There is no benefit running anything else apart from being a wanker and telling everyone you run 98 cause it's the most expensive and therefore the best. For a ZRX rider, the guy has no fucking brains! I reckon we should make him sell the farker! He's an embarrassment to all the other cool rex riders. Like......umm....like......umm......I'll get back to you.

2nd the 95 on a stocker.... thats all it needs... now if it was hotted up.. then, o wait its only a tiddler

98 on the 12R, was dyno tuned on it, and ignition advanced to suit. I wouldn't dare put even 95 in it.
Tend to go with caltex usually.
Most people will tell you higher grades won't matter if your bike isn't tuned for it, and just go with the manufacturer recommendation.

Lets start an argument. its compression ratio more than timing which determines best octane rating .

Re: what fuel do you use?
well from what ive read the higher the compression ratio the higher the octane rating u can run it on for optimum performance as for ignition timing dont know a whole lot on it but if u set the ignition time for a later period so all the fuel gets burned up before reaching the top dead centre point would
so ill go with compression ratio even tho they both play some what equal parts i could be wrong
i dont know much about it explain your point of view so i can better understand it

Re: what fuel do you use?
LOL i think it's both but don't go off US style of fuel ratings as they are done in "MON" not "RON" so all im trying to say is our 98 is there 91Strika wrote:Lets start an argument. its compression ratio more than timing which determines best octane rating .

Re: what fuel do you use?
this might give people an idea on how the different fuels need different tuning.

additives inhibit what the fuel is designed to do
