My 1st question is tyre pressure.. I'm far from an accomplished decent rider so my question is do I leave the pressure I'm running now for road which is 36f/40r or do I drop it?? I'm running power 2s the suspension is a stock and in need of a tune but I don't know what or how to change it.. Next question is how much fuel will I roughly need it's a bog stock 09zx6r with a slip on so there's no go faster bits.. Also would you guys recommend towing it there on a trailer or ute or just ride there ?? Thanks for the info guys I feel a little stupid asking these questions but I'm hoping that this becomes the start of my track riding days

Re: 1st track day questions
Tyre pressures = 30/30 will be somewhere close enough
Chances are high that you would benefit from suspension adjustments and if it were me, that would be first thing on the list
You won't use much fuel, being limited to gears and braking for all but the last session, but as a guide my '09 ZX6R uses 3.3L per session on a track day. At a guess, I reckon you'll only use about 12L on the day but take 20L as it won't go to waste anyway.
If you can tow it, do it in case you bin it or are a little rooted after the day.
You'll have a ball.

Re: 1st track day questions
Don't stress Chris no stupid questions just stupid answers......
They might come along later lol.
Personally I would tow it there as you will be stuffed by the end of the day and the last thing you want to do is ride home.
A good start round figure wise for pressures on the track is 30/30 cold.
Don't stress about your suspension on your first day just ride it around and have a bit of a look at it on your next track day.
Bring a 20 litre Jerry can. And have your tank just over half full.
After each session just fill it up about half full again.
No point in having it full just adds to the weight and up high as well.
Bring plenty of fluids and snacks to keep you going you will be surprised at how much it takes out of you.
Stretch and warm up especially before your first session and have a good nights sleep.
I can't remember any more of your questions lol so there's a start....

Haha that just shows how long it took me to write that. Smithy had already answered some of it.

Re: 1st track day questions
They will tell you on the day to drop your pressures to 30/30 cold and as the others said, you are better off towing it than riding it there. Leanne and I will be there Monday and then she will be doing level 2 on Tuesday so you might see us there.

Re: 1st track day questions
Firstly congrats on getting out to the track
Towing it is by far the easiest. God forbid the worst happens then at least you have a way of getting the bike home.
Take a jerry can with you with extra fuel
I use around 4-4.5 litres a session on my 09 zx6r and being lazy I fill it up in the morning and at lunchtime
Sometimes need a top up towards the end of the day. The extra fuel at the end of the day can go into my roady etc
Have fun and let us know what you think

Either layout. At PI I use slightly
more. Maybe its cause Im a fat bastarge
Another tip, if you decide to regularly track your 09-12 zx6r the Cat inside the stock header pipe's are prone to melting. Nothing a hammer and chisel cant remove and give you the reason for a PCV

Hey
I'm doing lvl 1 CSS on Tuesday as well !!
I love what the weather is doing for us.... days and days of rain then all of a sudden it's sunny.. Fingers crossed it will stay that way for all of tomorrow.
got a new set of tyres put on the weekend as well (Pure's for $399 fitted) and I just got a pair of Sidi ST's so the bike feels like a difference machine now. Amazing how changing boots (ie main feedback/interface points between human and bike) changes the feel.
Catch you out there

Far out... that's one economical ZX6R you have there!!!!!!Smiffy wrote: but as a guide my '09 ZX6R uses 3.3L per session on a track day.
Re: 1st track day questions
New vortices added 3 seconds for me on the first day, most of it at T2 banging back 4 gears.
Also had to grind off the lip of the heel on the inside of the boot as it was catching under the heel guards.

Re: 1st track day questions
Dunno, it's my second zx6r tracky and the last one was very similar.EDU wrote:Far out... that's one economical ZX6R you have there!!!!!!Smiffy wrote: but as a guide my '09 ZX6R uses 3.3L per session on a track day.Mine will use AT LEAST 50% more per session.
Do you fuel up per session or just the start of the day?

Re: 1st track day questions
Ed's gearing is a lot shorter than standard, which will effect how much fuel he chews through.
