ZXR400 tyres slick?

Post by mark1 »

first year racing ZXR400 pre modern and tyres coming up for replacement, currently treaded tyres but been suggested slicks would provide more grip.Note still learning so not piushing hard, crashing hurts.
Buy slicks?what brand?

Or talk to Rb imports at caringbah there pretty good with prices and a great bunch of guys

Just be careful they have alot of performance and trick parts for the 400's and you will have to resist spending all your cash haha.

Also to be noted if your running slicks to look into getting tyre warmers also :)
anyone can go fast in a straight line,,,,

i have a tz250 which uses similar size tyres I have found the bridgestone slicks to be awesome you can get them off Craig white his number is 0413461353 give him a call he will help you out. the advantage of treaded tyres is if you don't have wets you can head out on a wet track to circulate around

I've been racing a '91 ZXR400 since August last year.
I'm running Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks, 120/70 R 17 NHS TL SC1 front & 160/60 R 17 NHS TL SC2 rear.
They last reasonably well and stick like the proverbial to a blanket.
About $500 a set here in WA.

Thanks, that's turn 1 at Barbs.

That depends on which track I'm on.
Barbagallo is mainly right handers and very abrasive, on average I'd get 4 to 5 track/race days.
Collie is mainly left handers and less abrasive, ballpark, 5 to 6 race/track days.
