bah, aside from being ripped off for the width of my garage (car parking probs) my biggest gripe is a lack of powerpoints, else i'd be considering the mini telly, radio, as well as power for various power tools.

but on the up side its under a set of units and has brick walls, so with the door closed to stop the outside wind it stays a heap warmer than outside in winter (when its 7-9 degrees out, its 15-19 in there), and stays the same temp in summer when it gets stinkig hot outside 8) 8)

Well you can see some pictures of where I dropped my engine and split the crankcase here http://www.ksrc-au.com/html/fixing_a_zx9r_gearbox.html

I had a whole stack of little blue boxes from supercheap auto that I put all my bits and pieces in and labelled them with a bit of duct tape and a texta. Didn't have any leftovers either

Thanks mate, you always wonder whether anyone ever reads that stuff. I know I got a lot of info from other people that gave me the confidence to go ahead and do it myself, so thought I'd do what I could to help other people too. Let me know if you need any more info on it.

Nice work Mick - that is a great article, first time I have read it.

I had a similiar problem on my z1000 at the end of the 2001 season - it was jumping pretty badly out of 2nd and 3rd. Cut a long story short ( and no piccies :( ), split cases, check out 3rd gear on input shaft, dogs all worn to buggery, I had also worn the selector fork down to about 3mm, min. thickness according to the Gospel of St Factory Manual was 4.5mm  no wonder the mongrel was jumping out of gear !! Also the groove on the input shaft was out to about 7mm !! ( should have been about 5.....)

did a plunder from a spare z motor, with a gearbox in much better nick, no more problems :D bloody gearboxes.....

cheers

Thanks for reminding me to still buy a certain engine from a certain forum member when he's ready to sell... wether my dead engine is fixed or not :)

Excellent :D
Speaking of money; I picked up some of those zippy bags today... 200 of them :D For some reason I've always presumed they're quite annoying expensively. HAhaha, don't ask why, I have no idea.
Anyhoo, I was pleased to find they're reasonably priced so I grabbed a few (craploads!! WOOHOO!!) and re-sorted most of my fiddly bike bits and bolts and stuff tonight. Haray; zippy bags are great.
