Good stuff Sean, I'll be real interested in your thoughts on the Shinko, I've heard good things about its bang for buck. As for the 012SS the more heat you give it the better it will get

What i can say Sean is that matching 012 SS work well
. I guess you had a budget decision($$)? You'd be suprised with the wear rate you get out of them on the 7.
I did over 1000 k last wkd(mostly spirited riding) and they held up well but saying this it won't be long b4 i am back up @ Goodna.
I'd have to check my records to see how many k's i got on this set but my last set of 012 SS did about 6-6500 km's.
Keep us updated on how the rear goes.
P.S - Have to get out for a ride with ya sometime(been awhile).

yeah... so when r we going 4 a ride mate?!

you got a pic of this rear? not the single little cuts that look like dashes is it (like the yokahama's?)?? does it have a cut similar to the bridgies?
eh, i'll see it one day!!
yeah, would be nice to know how they go (mick didn't have a 12ssFront in the correct profile to go with my rear) hence, atm my 12ss rear is shagged and my BT014 on the front still looks respectable... although, too many variables for me: too much commuting and not enough ride days lately!

Well i was up @ Mick's(MTM Goodna) today and reckons i should give pilot power race a go.
So i bought a pair of Michelin Pilot Power Race for $439(incl 190 rear).
$250 rear & $189 front (both dual compound - med middle/soft outer edges).
I'll be interested how these compare with other tyres i have used(once scrubbed in)
 .
Also the Bridgestone BT 012 SS are now $360 pr (small price rise).
Has an order of Schinkos(soft fronts) coming that are going to sell for around $100.

yeh i thought they would be a way better track tyre because of the tread missing from the sides so they would chew up less on the sides, If they are made of simaler stuff to the powers they should be ok because they work when they are cold but there was a lot of warnings about the old piliot race tyres needing a good warm up to get them to their sticky best.
Mick also mentioned the rears where constructed diferently and would be a fair bit stiffer than powers as well, Of course i bought a set of powers 3 days before darlington shut and thinking about the ride to melbourne but pilot race would have made a lot of sence now that all we have is willowbank to run around.
let me know how they go
