Finally got a 9 motor.

Post by jpbikeboy »

Yep, i finally got myself a nine motor for the zxr. they don't come cheap. it's got about 10-15000k. it's been sittting for 9 years so I thought i'd pull down the top end just to check it over. Farkin glad i did!!! I found the #1 cylinder had a score in it and the piston skirt has broken away. Luckily, when i removed the sump i found the piece of broken piston. So after all that i now have some JE high comp, forged 1mm oversize pistons, fully rebuilt head and new barrels, high flowed turbo and a braced frame. Hopefully thats all. A 924cc turbo is going to keep me on my toes, or on my arse.

If i can pull my head out of the rebuild for a moment i'll take some pics.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Gee, dont be excited or anything Diesel ;-).

You've left more presents on the forum than a fox terrier with a pack of ex-lax.

I finished the head rebuild and all is good. I was suprised that even after 9 years of being compressed the valve springs were still well within tolerance. The Kawi stem seals aren't cheap though. Frame is being braced as i type and i've bolted the new turbo to the exhaust manifold. I've done a few mods to the injection to get a few more horsies. over the next week or so while i wait for my pistons I'll give everything a good clean before reassembling. I can't wait     . I have more kawi parts lying around than kawi australia does. pics still to come.
