Oil filter change interval?
Just after some opinions of change intervals that poeple use for oil filters.
The manual says to change it every 12000 kilometere but i think thats a bit long. The manual also says to change to oil every 6000KM - are they crazy?.
I currently run Motul 5100 10-40 and change it every 3000 KM. I have been doing the il filter at the same time.
Am i changing the filter to often or can i change it every 6000km
Thanks

i go 6000kms on the oil filter and 3 to 6 thousnad on the oil depending on what i have been using the bike for.
If you go 3000kms on the oil then most of the crook stuff went with the oilchange and the filter is filtering clean oil.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

mate thats every 1600km....thats very often..does ur oil even get dirty?? u must have too much money??UncleSam wrote:I change the oil and filter and clean my BMC air filter every 1000 miles. I don't know what that would be in the metric system. The reason I only go 1000 miles is the fact that it's a wet clutch, (contamination) transmission and motor oil in the same pan. Plus I beat the trash out of the engine.
i get 3-6000km out of mine (2000-3800 miles)

I don't change oil that often on my BMW, but it doesn't share oil with the engine. (Gearbox is seperate)
Your making me wonder how much a quart of oil costs over there?
In the ZX-10R I changed it to Mobil motorcycle 10w-40 syntentic, which is expensive 8.00 dollars a quart combined with the 10.00 dollar oil filter.
Almost 40.00 for a oil change. I like to spoil the 10, but I ride her like I stole her. If she could talk she would yell rape.
