Does anyone have any suggestions for chain maintenance for a bike with no centre stand, nor a racing stand, for that matter?

nope.

actually there is a stand that u just back the rear wheel onto. It has rollers and allows u to lube the chain.

Two long bolts the same thred pattern as your pickup holes and two axle stands, works a treat and only costs $20 from Big W.

Interesting. What is this "axle stand" and how would you bring the rear wheel up (quite heavy I presume?). Pics maybe ?

To easy guys, lateral thinkin required.

Insert correct bolts in holes while on side stand, place one axle stand(for those that don't know, they look like a pyramid with an extending centre which locks in place with a pin) under the area in which the right side bolt is gonna sit when bike is stood up, then stand bike up, if axle stand is at the right height the bolt will come to rest on top and when bike is eased over to the right rear wheel will lift and other stand can be slid into position.

Ya only need your rear wheel half inch of the floor to do most things.

I've always used this method with all my bikes and never dropped it once.

If ya get real good and can position a scissor jack well, ya can lift the front and take both wheels out

Or ya can do what Hammer likes to do and suspend the bastard from the ceiling with straps
