Tyre Wear

Just replaced front & rear with Dunlop 220s, $382 fitted and balanced.

So far done 250k, half of which in the wet. Confidence is good, haven't exactly pushed them yet though.

The old tyres hung in for a good while. Got 15,000 from a Pirelli GTS rear and 30,000 from a Metzler ME1. I mostly commute to work and play twisties on the odd weekend.

It still had 2mm legal on it, although it was a bit square. My commute to work is 30 mins freeway and 15 mins high street. Makes for good tyre wear and boring riding

Ardvark has the bead popped properly right around the rim?

I have seen them not qite fitted right and they wobble a little on the rim or has the wheel weight fallen off, take it back if it isnt quite right.

Date: 12 July 05
Tyres: Bridgestone soft compound superbike slicks. (Off with old Diablo Corsas - No more street tyres for me!)
Front: 125/600/17 80% rubber
Rear: 190/660/17 50% rubber

2 sessions at QR so far, actually showed faint signs of wear in that 45 or so mins of tracktime. Hoping to get 3 full trackdays out of rear tyre, should get at least twice that from front.

snippity......Fitted second hand set of Pirelli Diablo's (thanks Hemi) at least 60% left in the middle, they reach temperature really quickly then front goes squirmie when pushed hard & rear likes to rip compared to the 012 SS but i feel more confident with them even though I know i'm not as quick as the Bridgies 012 ss

What pressure you running Brett? I know it's bad for longevity, but they do seem to like lower pressures. They used to be best at 30psi front and rear at the track, I reckon maybe 32 front 33/34 rear for road would help? Mind you your 9 would make 1 or 2 more horsepower than my 7......

with mine when cruising sometimes I can feel a vibration in the left bar, then the right bar, left, right, left .. well you get the picture.
it probably lasts a second per side. Could call that pulsating.
slightly odd, but not something I'm worried about.

Yeah, something like that. I've worked it. It seems the front tyre is as badly scalloped as the rear. A little more pressure in the front and some slight softening of the suspension settings has made it less apparent.

I may go back to them now that I'm not using the bike as my daily commute. But I do like the mileage (kilometreage??) I am getting out of the Michys.

So Jas your getting better milage out of Powers then the Bridgies ?.

I also updated initail post But a Certain bloke has just recieved a special order of Shinko 003 (both soft n supersoft) at the unbeatable price of under $300 a pair fitted.
So guess whats going on "tiggr" next week. *I wonder if my half used front 012 SS will work with a Shinko 003 Rear ? ....... hmmmmm .
