Does the other caliper also have two lines going to it like that or just one?

Without seeing it, who know's what's been done...
Original it shoud be one line from the M/C down to the right cailper, then a 2nd line from the right cailper over the gaurd to the left cailper..
But if ur changing to hell ect, it wont matter, just get the (race) pattern lines... two lines from the M/C one to each cailper

yep, prob, or u may end up with the 3 lines, as in same setup as oem.
They should ask which setup u want.
The kit will come with all the bolts ect, The M/C will be a longer bolt to take both lines, easy to fit and a lot easier to bleed.

I'm thinking it goes down to one side then loops over to the other caliper not the norm generally but I have seen it done before. Just order the hel lines and maybe in comments write that you want the two lines that go individually down to each caliper from the m/c.
Don't know where your located but deano at Dynoverks in boronia can order them in pretty cheaply if your worried about getting the wrong ones.

All sorted. there are 2 config. twin line or cross over..............i think ill run with twin line. Looking at Venhill braided lines from the US, but for price, i'll go with the Hel.

Any thoughts on my other issues regarding weathered (possible erosion) on the cast iron parts of the bike?

Venhill's are good, most BSB teams use them, but then prob because there english.
I fitted a set to my mates 08 zx10, he got them cheaper than the hells.
But the venhill's arnt a pressed end like hell, goodridge ect. there a flanged end, like a car.
The other issues, maybe the bikes been out in the weather for some time???
