Braided Lines
Braided Lines
Hi All,
My 05 'Crim' arrived yesterday and i have to say im quite impressed. Apart from the cosmetics stone chips and scratches, it scrubbed up fairly well. I do have some questions and advice would be great so here it goes:
1. The cast iron seems to have erosion (not full blown rust), just looks weathered. What should i use to combat it and make it scrub up ok?
2. I want to replace the front braided lines, what brand should i use. As i want to have red to match the R, i have found some on ebay but not sure if they are any good. what would you recommend? I have called Pirtek, but they want $120 per line.
3. Head lamp unit (high beam side) has heaps of condensations in it. How can i fix the problem as a new headlamp unit costs $1080. I can replace all the fairings for that (genuine too)
4. Looking for a rear seat cowl in titanium, if you know anyone who may have one for sale let me know (titanium)
Looking forward to your help......................
By the way, I LOVE BEING BACK ON A KWAKA

Re: Braided Lines
HEL braided lines, buy them directly from the UK for the best price - heaps cheaper than the Ozzie importer price.

Thanks. I'll have to search more on eBay.
Re: Braided Lines
I paid 227 Euros delivered for the full set to fit the 9 from Probrake. That's 3 piece front, the rear and clutch - in gold with stainless ends, 'cause I'm special.

I got a 3 piece HEL set including bleed nipples for my 9 from c-m-s UK $90Au posted.
Look around both UK and US often have specials so if your prepared to wait a while something will come up.

Re: Braided Lines
Just another question, each brake caliper has 2 braided lines running to it? Is there any reason for that

Not sure what u mean by two lines?myzx10r wrote:Just another question, each brake caliper has 2 braided lines running to it? Is there any reason for that
Form new, they run one line from the M/C down to the right cailper, than another line over the gaurd to the left cailper.
When u replace them, ask for the (race patern) as in just two lines. From the M/C u will get only two lines, one goes to the right cailper, the other to the left cailper, no balance line from the right cailper the the left one.
Hell lines are good, cheaper than goodridge lines.

That makes two of usmyzx10r wrote:Ive checked and double checked.id post a pic but i dont know how too?

when u decide to get them, be it over the net, or from a bike shop, the prefered choice is two seperate lines, they will come with the longer bolt for the M/C, so u should'nt need to buy any other bits.

I'm useless with posting photos too but there's an easy way of doing it. If you've got an iPhone or smart phone download the tapatalk app and host it through that. Take the photo with your phone open advanced settings open photo album select photo host by tapatalk and whamo.
It's also an easier way to log on remotely from your phone , iPad etc

from your PC press POST REPLY
then under the text box on the left hand side there is a tab, upload attachment
browse your computer, select your photo then press add file.
from there it may take a moment but it will come up with another section with your photo code and a button next to it saying ' place in line' press that and your done.
or use photobucket and just add the image code inside the field and it brings the photo across without using up KSRC bandwidth.
Photobucket also has a good Iphone appp, works a treat

Re: Braided Lines
Hi Guys,
Photo added. Easy and i knew how to do it. Much easier than other sites.
As you can see, there are 2 lines going to the caliper rather than 1 (as on other models) and you can see at the bottom, they looked rusted or have leaked. Is it normal that each caliper has 2 lines?
