well said. i got it running and took it for a ride. good torque in the lower revs runs smooth up to the red. i'm only running 4psi until its run in so there is no real neck snapping power YET!. I'll do a 1000km's on it then take it to the dyno for a real tune and wind up the boost.

what kinda ponies are you expecting?
if it makes 14psi anywhere before halfway thru the rev range, it'll make a busa feel as torquey as a cbr250

I'm hoping for around 220 rear wheel hp. But it's not the hp that counts, its the torque. there is nothing like turbo torque. it's already producing 4psi at about 4500rpm before the wastegate spoils the fun. i'm very tempted to wind it up but i keep telling myself to be nice and easy while i run it in. One thing i did notice is the 9 motor has very tall gearing. i'm changing my sprockets this arvo and we'll see how it goes.

going too short on the gearing of a turbo can spoil the fun, they like to be loaded up

hope your not going toooo easy on the run in!

hmmmmm.
sounds nuts mate. why not wind it up to about 6psi till u take it to the dyno. should be right, and it should be enough to notice the difference.
good idea running rich too. detonation would be a bitch on a bike!
all this turbo talk has got me thinking though.
i wonder if you could work out a way to crank a supercharger?
that'd be great fun. it'd take some serious modding and i doubt u could keep the fairings on.
whaddaya reckon?

There's a purple and gold VTR 1000 doing the rounds with a puffer on it. Was in an issue of two wheels 6 months or so ago and was down the Island for the show and shine last year. Went like all stink aparently, in a straight line that is

yeah i read the mag...
the guy put a shaft on the clutch (i think) to drive a supercharger off a toyota crown (2 litre) the same kind u see being fitted to V6 commodores etc... they can be had for about $300 from an import wrecker
the guy was running it with a draw-through SU carb and says its faster than a R1 up to 200, but i get the impression it dies out after that
really, on a bike you cant beat a turbo for forced induction... a nice twin-screw blower would rock, but feasability is out the window
