At uni we have the equipment that is used to measure viscosity and I've been tempted to see if I can do some tests, but I've never really had much time to do it and I would need to have the assistance of the professor as I have never used it. Uni holidays is probably the worst time to ask for time from professors as it is the only time they get away from students to do their research without interruption.

twould be interesting,I think, to see the difference between 1000Km oil, if as they say in the above link that the greatest degradation in quality occurs then, to 3000k, to 5000k.
I think that changing your oil at 3000km is a waste of beer tokens. Also if you dont change your filter at the same time then realy aren't you contaminating the new with old? A filter will only remove particulates down to approx 6 micron.
